Character Name: Sibani
Character Status: Playing Character
Character Age: 37
Gender: Female
Title/Position/Occupation: Horse Trainer
Residence: Elpidia on Theron
Physical Description: Sibani is hard, tanned, and dark-haired, with an athletic body bearing only a hint at feminine curves. The only thing light about her is her blue-grey eyes which could probably represent ice crystals. Her fingers are long and artistic, she has many scars upon her body which she usually conceals with long sleeves and collared tunics. She prefers tunics and trousers with soft, worn boots, often carrying a small pouch on either side of her belt, like pockets. Her hair is always bound with a large comb or two sticks to her head to keep it away from her face while she works. On her left forearm is a thick, old scar, and on her lower back, the equivalent of a tramp stamp is a mysterious stick-figure rendering of a horse (Uffington).
Personality: Like most horsewomen, Sibani prefers the company of horses over that of people. Horses don't care about her clothing, her income, her status, or anything for that matter, so long as their coats are brushed, their hooves well-groomed, and their bellies full of grain. She can *ask* a horse to do anything, and it will usually willingly acquiesce... but her odd anectdotes, vague puns and in-jokes, and dry sense of semi-sarcastic humor eludes most people. This communication gap has made her largely give up on trying to have any friends, and occasionally, she takes her pleasure with a 'loaner', rather than intimately tying herself to anybody. She can't stand women. Women are crazy, fickle, brash, and needy, to her thinking. Men are stupid, useless toys and deserve their status, for not being smart enough to do anything about it. She almost made the mistake of falling for a man, for seeing them as something more, but with time, he proved himself with no help from her. It was kept discreet and went away before the gossips could get to it, but she sees him often in passing, and she can't help but wish he'd get run over by a carriage.
Life Story: Born to an unscrupulous horse-trader, Sibani saw the unsavory "end of the trail" for worn-out, busted-up, and otherwise broken mounts that nobody wanted. Euthanasia would have been kinder... but euthanasia and disposal cost money her father didn't want to spend, when instead, he could just turn around and sell the horse with a bit of weight, some shoe-polish on points that should be black, and other quick-fixes, so that the horse eventually dropped dead elsewhere. When he died, Sibani took over his lot, and made crucial renovations to it to rehab and resell rather than patch-up and pass off. Those horses that were suffering, she humanely sent to their graves to end their woes. The reputation her father left with the business was a most unsavory one, so most of her hardest work hasn't been with horses or repairs, it's been with convincing people that she's nothing like him. The horses receive the best she can manage of everything while she sometimes goes without. Sometimes forgetting to eat makes her irrational, even irritable, and more than once she's swooned, but managed to recover herself so far. Now if only she could recover the business, and find good, caring homes for horses who deserved a second chance.
